Oak Knoll Shelties is a small show and hobby kennel located in Pataskala, Ohio, just east of Columbus Ohio, that has been owned and operated by Robert and Betty Willis since 1973.
Robert was born in Northern Ireland on a rural farm. As a child he would watch dogs herd cattle and sheep. Since his childhood, he has been surrounded with dogs and grew to love the herding breeds. His father Harry operated the local coal yard and Poyntzpass village scales. Harry weighed pens of sheep when farmers herded them into town with their dogs.
Betty read all of the Albert Payson Terhune collie books and the Black Stallion series by Walter Farley as a child. She spent years wishing for a collie like Lad and a horse like The Black. As an army brat, with the possibility of overseas travel, that hope was never realized. Robert and Betty were married in 1968, and Betty purchased her first horse soon after. The mare was a Morgan/Quarter Horse cross. Within a few months, Robert purchased an Arabian stallion. They enjoyed them for many years. About the same time, Robert and Betty purchased a German Shepherd. Soon they found another, and they spent several years raising and showing them. Their first sheltie was purchased from a breeder in 1973, and they have been in love with the Shetland Sheepdogs ever since.
Robert and Betty breed shelties with the hope of producing a show prospect. Since it is good luck to get even one show prospect in a litter, they sometimes have beautiful pet puppies for sale. Puppies are sold with a written health guarantee, have been checked by a vet, have been wormed and had their first shot. Puppies are handled and socialized from birth. If you are looking for a puppy with a happy, out-going personality, please check the Available page.
Stud service available from our Ch. Oak Knoll’s Dreamchaser, 2009 ASSA Winners Dog, shown above. Chase is 15 1/2 inches, bi-factored sable with excellent bone and a beautiful head. He produces beautiful puppies in sable, tri and bi black. Also at stud is Karastar Eye Of The Tiger (Zeke), a beautiful blue merle boy. Zeke is 15 1/2 inches tall and has produced beautiful puppies in tri, bi black, blue merle and bi blue. Pictures and pedigrees are on the Stud Dogs page. Show prospect and pet puppies occasionally available from both of these boys.
